Biggest Lessons

1. Get the microphone out of the frame – it’s not pretty!

2. Be as specific as possible – it helps with creating the story line.

3. Natural sound is a very good thing.

4. Get advice from as many people as possible…at least people who know what they’re talking about :)

5. Be open to the feedback you get!

….more to come!

Debut

The Changemakers film is officially finished! I will be handing it in to my advisor tomorrow (Thursday). Last minue edits and changes are done. This is very exciting.

Creating a documentary has been an extraordinary learning experience.

I had hours and hours and hours of tape and interviews. Overtime, it got cut and edited and chizzled down to 6 minutes and 57 seconds. It was an arduous task but I loved the process. I learned how to tell a story, create a narration, use new multimedia tools and developed my own sense of what makes something compelling or not.

Even though being a broadcast major has helped to teach me how to write and produce short news packages, a documentary is entirely different.

Despite the time it took, the process was great and I would love to do it again. Although, may be a documentary film class couldn’t hurt – just to get a few more tips.

I want to thank my advisor, John Doolittle, who was patient, gave good advice and gave me a lot of independence to create this. Thanks Professor Doolittle!

Well, that’s all for now. If there are other resources or links you’d like to see up here, just let me know!

VOILA!

Welcome!

Welcome to Changemakers Film blog/website. This is an addendum, or supplement, whatever you prefer, to the film. There is only so much information I could use to put in the film, yet there was so much I wanted to talk about. This blog gives me the change to connect you with more links, resources and information. I hope you find it useful and you gain a little extra knowledge about why these coexistence and peace efforts are so important and critical to the hope of regions with conflict in the world.
